Fiddle tunes

Fiddle tunes

This book was owned by my great grandfather, a Texas fiddler, who “went West to entertain the miners.” He first entertained them with a magic show, then realized that playing for dances was more of what the audience wanted.

This book is marked with pencil, where Tex indicated that an “up bow” was preferable to a “down bow.”

Although Tex and I are separated by space and time, I feel connected to him through his use and appreciation of this old book (which we can both decipher), But it would sure be nice to be able to hear him PLAY.
